December 2004 - Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California: "Your Endeavour is a perfect example of the spirit of California. You have taken up the cause of the Philips Fund to help a few, and in doing so, you have rallied and inspired countless others. Your example of selflessness is a reminder for all Californians to use every resource to champion noble causes."

"I came across Gene and two of his "boys" this morning on the way to pick up my new glasses. They were riding along the main street of Woodland, waiting at stop lights and moseying along. After I left the eye Drs. office I thought that maybe I could catch up with them at the feed store at the far end of Main Street. Sure enough, I did!!!

God bless you Gene, the enchantment of the open road, the company of your boys and the wonderful charitable work you are doing is truly a mission you have been called to do.

You are truly a blessing and a Xmas present to me..."

"I want Gene to know that we were truly blessed to accompany him to the California State Capital in Sacramento. My two sons, Jason and Isaac also accompanied him as well. Along with the three of us, there was Gene's son and his family, my brother, James, Jason the BLM Officer, Corky, Terry, and a gentleman from KCRA television.

As I followed Gene, his granddaughter, Alaina, who was riding double with him was smiling from ear to ear. His grandson, Daniel, rode one of his Tennessee Walkers as well. What a lovely family!

It was a real pleasure getting a chance to meet everyone. The weather could not have cooperated better. Plenty of sunshine and just the right temperature.

Thank you for allowing us to share a part in your memorable journey.

Many Thoughts and Prayers,"

"What an amazing man! I heard about Gene Glasscock from my daughter, Rena Gallant who lives in Esparto, Ca. She had the privilege of attending Sunday services with Gene has Sunday in Esparto. She was quite impressed by the gentleman and called me in Santa Clarita, Ca., very excited to share her good fortune. She also gave me Gene's web address which I am enjoying. All the more since I too am a Senior Citizen on the go most of the time. I will indeed pass along Gene's message via the Mighty Oak, our monthly newsletter at the SCV Senior Center."

"Gene visited the Capitol in Sacramento, then hit the road to Woodland, Calif. Sherry Justice hauled Gene and the horses to Van Brocklins Ranch, just outside of Woodland to spend the night. We had a great visit and he had so many interesting stories to share. He is so determined to complete his mission- that being to earn money to educate the children in Paraguay He said he will return to Paraguay after he completes his journey and hopes to teach. What an amazing man and we were so glad to be a small part of his long trip. He headed out Friday to meet up with Ken Flowers in Esparto. Ken transported Gene back and forth up the Capay Valley until he reached Clearlake. Gene rides approximately 15 – 25 miles a day and averages 4-6 miles per hour. He always starts where he leaves off the day before so he has ridden every mile of the journey and has approximately 1 more year on the road. Our prayers are with the long rider and his steeds. God bless him."

"My family had the pleasure of hosting Gene over Christmas and New Year's! I saw him again February 13th when I delivered his horse Frank to him in Oregon. He is one special man on a special mission. I told him when he finishes this trip and goes to Paraguay, I want to be his guest but I will cook for him! He looks fantastic after his surgery and has the energy of a young man!"
