"I just read The Long Riders' Guild website and learned about Gene Glasscock. I would ask that you keep me informed about Gene's whereabouts, health conditions etc. I became extremely fond of Gene, when he was here buying horses from me, and I just want to make sure that he is OK. I was very happy to learn that people had been riding alongside Gene. Hopefully this will be a recurring event."

19th February - Glasgow, Kentucky
"Yesterday, I passed Gene with George and Frank in a torrential downpour as I was driving a school bus loaded with little ones. I intended to offer him a warm rest and food for himself and horses
but when I made the return trip shortly afterwards, he was nowhere to be found. Thank goodness some tender, caring soul rescued him for the night and I got to meet and spend some time with him the next morning. He was tying up the horses at a little country store and was more than happy to stop and talk with me about his travels.
Gene is truly a man to admire and respect.
If we would all "slow down and smell the roses" as Gene does, what a wonderful world it would be.
God be with you Gene, and thanks for letting me be a part of your journey."

"We had the pleasure of meeting Gene Glasscock in March while passing through Lawrenceburg, on his way to Frankfort, KY. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Gene. A wonderful Christian man who we enjoyed sharing our home with and listening to his experiences on the trail. He is an encourager and has much to offer to those who will sit and listen for awhile. You will be blessed. Keep in touch, God Bless and hope to see you again."

"I had the pleasure of meeting Gene Glasscock as he made his trek to Frankfort Ky. During his visit, he advised me of this web site devoted to equestrian travels. I attach a story of the 40 year anniversary of the horseback ride myself and Sanford Cheatham made from my home in Chaplin, Ky. to California that was printed in the Courier-Journal, Louisville, Ky."

"My son and I were driving along route 60 in Winchester, Ky where we live and saw Gene and Frank and George walking along the road. I said to Mike, 'Look, I will bet you that he is riding across country.' We quickly pulled over. Mike wanted to meet him so bad (so did mom). What a gentleman! He was so wonderful to talk to and it was exciting to meet him. We applaud him in his cause and want to support him anyway we can! Please send information on where we can send a donation for the foundation. America is a rich country with men like Gene in it!"

28th March, Ashland, Kentucky
"As Gene traveled through the small city of Ashland, Kentucky I first saw him as he was approaching the city limits. I then continued my errands and on my way back home there he was again with his two horses stopped at the Ashland Animal Clinic. Of course, me being the animal lover and having my own horse I made a U-turn to see exactly what he was doing and where his journey was taking him. I helped the Vet bring his horses water as I spoke with Gene about his traveling and what his mission was about. George and Frank then got examined and we located a place for all of them to rest up for the night. They needed some horse feed, the feed store was a little off the beaten path so I went and purchased the food for Gene and met up with him a little ways down the road. I wished Gene, George, and Frank well and said my good-byes and told him that I would keep up with his journey through the computer. As I sit here and read more and more about him I think about how amazing it really is and all that he has accomplished in his lifetime and not to mention the experiences and the many things that he has been able to see. I feel honored that I had the opportunity to speak with him for the short time that I did! He has made me stop and think about a lot of things and what one can accomplish in a lifetime if they have the "will-power" to do so all you have to do is just set your mind to it, anything is possible, but you also have to have your heart in it 100 %! I admire you GENE! Good Luck and God Bless You!"
