"Sorry I missed ya. I was offered the chance to ride with you from Franklin Park in Boston to Blue Hills in Canton. Regretfully, prior obligations prevented me from enjoying a ride with you. Its something I would have enjoyed very much. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and a wonderful and adventurous trip."

"Massachusetts is known for Midnight Riders, Minute Men, and Marathoners; we can become desensitized to heroic efforts. Yesterday in Cambridge, there was a moment of collective pause as Mr. Glasscock and his stalwart companions traveled through on their way to the State House. To see so many people awestruck by a single act was amazing. I am honored to be among the people who stand witness to this epic journey."

"Gene stayed with us on our farm for two days. We had been anticipating his arrival, and we were all excited when he rode into our driveway. He rode in so casually, as if he were out for an afternoon stroll, but we knew from the moment he arrived that his purpose was far greater than that. Because of his manner of gentleness and sincerity, we all felt connected to him right away. We enjoyed our two days with him... he played with our Shetland pony, Babe, met our friends and chatted over BBQ, and we even took him to a 3-phase schooling show where he cheered on our horses in the dressage, jumping and cross country. We were proud to host him and his beautiful horses, and to have been part of his incredible journey. Gene, we think about you and hope the best for you. You're welcome at Clover Valley Farm any time!"

"Boy, Gene, you made my.......year! I really enjoyed meeting you at the Clover Valley BBQ. Your courage and wisdom are admirable. The Lord has truly blessed you. I wish you comfort along the way and will pray that your goals for the students in Paraguay are met. Give Frank and George an apple for me!"

"This morning I was going to visit Greenlock Therapeutic Riding Center, Rehoboth, MA, for the first time. I had the distinct honor of being walked into the indoor ring by Gene as he came to be with his horses and with others for the day. He told me he is a Long Rider. I asked, "What's that?" He gave me a brief description of his rides over the years and of what it means to be a Long Rider. During my 3 hours at the barn I was impressed with how he seemed to fit in, how he looked over a beautiful horse, Dakota, and offered his perspective on what Dakota may have experienced in life. While marveling at the incredible feats of the children who came to ride and be helped by our equine friends, I also marveled at Gene who is clearly a lively man from whom I could have learned tons. I wish Gene, Frank and George a wonderful remainder of their journey with good health, good weather and good adventure."
