"I had the pleasure of meeting Gene at a Pot Luck Dinner given in his honor in Stagecoach Nevada. I found him to be a Wonderful and Extraordinary man who fascinated all of us with his colorful stories. I especially enjoyed our conservation on Mustangs as I have recently acquired a beautiful Mustang call Shasta. It was a once in a life time opportunity that I will never forget."

"Bill Adams and had the distinct pleasure of Gene's company for five days as we brought him across the Forty Mile Desert with our team of Belgian draft mules and my Spotted Saddle Horse. We had to camp out at night, fortunately we were right ahead of some really nasty weather (it snowed 6" three days later). I was lucky enough to be allowed to ride Tossi, Gene's bay Mustang into Carson City on Monday Nov. 29, to his meeting at the capital. Thanks Gene for the honor of meeting you and being able to help you on your way."

"hi gene, my name is jean and I just wanted to thank you for a meeting you had with my husband last year when you were in Winnemucca, Nevada. I don't know if you remember him but he will never forget you and I wish I had went with him to bring you water. you left a very deep impression on him and through him, me. All my prayers are with you and your sweet horses .hopefully, you make the same impression on scores of people on the rest of your journey. If you ever find yourself in Winnemucca again, you have an open invitation for yourself and your sweet horses to come and stay awhile. god bless you and yours. best wishes and happy trails to you always."
