This just goes to prove that Gene doesn't spend all his time in the saddle - here he is relaxing at Joe Carter's home in Tennessee.

30th January - Brownsville, Tennessee
"Gene stayed in our home tonight. We all enjoyed hearing his stories. He is a very nice person. We wish him a lot of luck on his journey. After several phone calls, we found him a place to stay on Friday night with Don Williams in Gadsden, Tennessee. I hope we are able to keep in touch with him. Wish him good luck, good health and God's Blessings!"

7th February - McEwen, Tennessee
"I just wanted to let everyone know that Gene is well and arrived in McEwen, Tennessee on February 7. My husband had stopped to talk with him at a small roadside park. It was cold and rainy and Gene needed to get in out of the cold. My husband offered him a place to rest and warm up. My mother-in-law cooked dinner for him as Gene sat and told us his wonderful stories. His Tennessee Walking horses, Frank and George, stayed in our barn and had plenty to eat also. Gene came home to stay with us for the night and after an early breakfast and some repair for the horses' feet the Long Rider was on his way again. At this point he should be approximately 75 miles from our capital in Nashville.
He is truly a SPECIAL person. He is very inspiring and God-sent. He is a reminder of the important things here on earth. I would encourage anyone with the opportunity to stop and talk with Gene or take him in for the night to do so. It is a wonderful feeling to be a part of his journey!"

I am thankful to have been able to meet Gene Glasscock. He stopped by the Save A Lot store in Waverly, Tennessee yesterday. When I heard him tell one of our customers that he was enroute to visit all the state capitals of the continental United States, it caught my attention. This is something that I would also like to do. So what an inspiration, if he would attempt that at age 67 on horseback, maybe there is a chance for me at least by automobile.
May God's Blessings be with you."

8th February - Huntingdon, Tennessee
"Gene came to Huntingdon, Tennessee, Monday, February 3, and both he and his horses, George and Frank, were doing well. The horses bedded down in my barn, accompanied by my leopard Appaloosa, Lightning, and my two paint colts, Cotton and Rocket. Gene stayed in the living quarters of a trailer in the yard. He and two friends he had met in Milan ate supper with me and my family. We really enjoyed meeting him and being with him--he has had so many interesting and unusual experiences--and he is such a gracious, Christian gentleman. He left for Camden, Tennessee, Tuesday morning, on his way to Nashville by Monday, February 10. We will be anxious to hear about the remainder of his trip."
