"My husband Rick and I just had a delightful visit with Gene. He stayed the night in Lexington, Texas on his way to Austin, the capitol. By the time Rick and I hit town at 8:30 am, everyone was buzzing about Gene's arrival the night before. It was well known where he had camped and where he would be having lunch. We snuck Gene away from downtown and he sat with us while we had a breakfast. We enjoyed he stories and are appreciatively of having met a man with such a focus. Our best goes out to Gene and those who are involved with this man's great journey. God bless."

"I had the honor of Gene in my home April 13th-15th. He is the most amazing man and I received a blessing having him here. He is now in Hillsboro, TX. on his way to Oklahoma City. I wish I could have spent more time with him. If anyone has a chance to meet him or welcome him into your home you will be blessed too. God be with you Gene, Frank, George & Tossy. Happy Trails."

"Hi, Gene, this is Theresa in Pflugerville. We enjoyed having you, George and Frank. Hope all is well. I still feel bad the Governor was in his second session and could not meet you. You have inspired us all and everyone I have told about you. Be careful and keep in touch. You are welcome to visit us again on your way south."

"I stopped and talked to Gene just North of Claude Texas Saturday morning June 5, 2004... He is an amazing man... I admire him greatly for doing what he loves to do... The Mustangs were beautiful, and probably the best, calmest horses I ever saw... As we talked a train passed by, only one of the horses even moved and he only took a couple of steps... The train engineer blew the whistle as he passed... I am a retired Field Boss for the Texas Prison System and none of our horses were that calm... Everyone should be so lucky to live their life as Gene is... An incredible man with great integrity..."

"I live in Vega, Texas. We are located 35 miles west of Amarillo, TX on Interstate 40. Gene stabled at our barn last night 06-09-04. I had the privilege of getting to know him for the short time he was in town. He is truly a servant of God. He attended our local Kiwanis Club at lunch on Wed 6-9-04 and gave us a feel of what his life on horseback is like. He told us of things that had happened and people who had helped in his journey. He attended a Life Group (Bible Study) with my wife and I Wed. night, and shared in the Lord with us. Every one was truly blessed by Gene. The topic of Study that night (which was planed long before we knew who Gene was) was being a servant to God. When Gene Blessed our group we saw first hand a true servant of God.
Gene left our town headed West about 7:45 am on Thursday 06-10-04.
I would strongly encourage anyone that has the chance to spend a little time with Gene along his journey, to do so. You will be Blessed. The entire time I was around Gene, He never once took credit for anything. He said "All I do is ride the horse, and God baby-sits me". He gives all the Glory To God.
May God continue to Bless Gene in all that he does."

"We had first read about Gene's marvelous trek only a couple of weeks before we stumbled upon him outside Goodnight, TX. Elke was an avid horsewoman in her teens in Colorado, and always has admired great western riders and their horses. As for me, as a native Texan, I'm proud to share that title with a genuinely inspirational and humble fellow such as Gene. Elke and I are both storm chasers as well, so our sojourns take us all over the Great Plains during spring.
Imagine our tremendous surprise, then, as we were driving up US 287 between Childress and Amarillo, headed toward late-day storm potential in eastern Colorado, and there he was! Gene and his horses looked a little tired, but they all were in great spirits as they were nearing their destination for the day.
Gene was tremendously warm and welcoming of us when we pulled over to say hello and to express our admiration for what he is doing. He is an amazing person, to say the least. We talked horses and Texas weather a little, and he helped Elke onto his trusty steed before we parted. We only spent a few moments with Gene, but will remember the encounter always. I'm honored to have met Gene and wish him and his equine companions the utmost in strength and determination to finish their journey."

Dear Mr.
Glasscock,
I have
been following your journey for years. You inspire me. I
look at all the photos in all the places and am amazed
and excited at it all. I am hoping your health is good.
I have
also travelled a bit, and love South America. My sister
Kay did her field work for her ph.d in Anthropology in
Paraguay.
I
understand you may be in Texas now, and wanted to invite
you to spend a day or two resting at my little slice of
heaven (crowded with 20 horses!)

Gene
Thanks so much for
remembering me and giving me a call. You made my day!
I enjoyed our visit, short as it was. I am emailing the
two pics we discussed. For some reason these stick in
my mind. Guess in some way they represent the time we
spent together. Nothing fancy, just you cleaning your
saddle.
I'm so glad that
you finished your journey, of which I never had any
doubt that you would. I will anxiously await the
publication of your book. I hoped you would take the
time to preserve your experiences so that the rest of us
could relive your adventure.
Please let me know
when you come back to Texas. If there is any way that I
can I would like to visit if you have the time. Please
feel free to call anytime.
